Welcome To Basicsnowboarding.com

Snowboarding is one type of surfing that is done on the snow. It is a sport which is very popular nowadays as it provides both thrill and enjoyment. Snowboarding gained popularity after the winter Olympics that was held in Japan in 1988. This sport can only be enjoyed in winter because in other seasons there is no snow so it is not possible to organize this sport. But keeping in mind the popularity of the sport many resorts have the facility of slopes which are built only for snowboarding so that the beginners can practice for the actual event to be held in winter.

Equipments Required for Snowboarding

The most essential equipments that are required for snowboarding are the snowboard, the gloves to protect the hand and the wrist, goggles to protect the eyes against the glare of the reflection, helmet as headgear, special shoes for snowboarding and snowboard bindings. These equipments are available on rent and it is better if a beginner takes the equipments on rent as it will help him to estimate the actual size of the gloves, shoes, helmet and other accessories. This way it will help you to save money and buy the exact brand and size of accessories that is suitable for you.

Snowboarding Styles

There are three popular styles which are mostly adopted by the snowboarders. These styles are free ride which is the easiest style of snow riding which is mostly preferred by most of the snowboarders. It is the best style for a beginner because in this style you have to just ride down straight on a mountain which may have a mild slope or a steep slope. A rider who has developed stability and control over the ride can add some tricks while doing free rides.

Another snowboarding style is the free style where the rider practices by jumping over artificial hurdles which are created with the help of pipes, rails, cardboard boxes and other articles. The rider practices the jib or the aerial trick. The most common stance that is used in free style is the duck foot stance where the back foot faces the rear end of the snowboard. Free carve style is mostly used for racing or carving so jumps are not included in this style as this style focuses on carving.

Whatever styles you choose always keep in mind that snowboarding requires lots of practice to achieve total stability and control while riding which will always be at high speed down a slope.
